I took this photo during a mid-morning jaunt through the woods. At the time I was looking for a shot in which the sun was behind my subject and this is what I captured. I used my Konica-Minolta SLR camera, 28-80mm lens and found the sun peeking through the tops of the pines, oaks and cedars. The pond in the foreground is relatively small and somewhat mossy, hence it's greenish cast. In it's heyday the pond was used for a number of purposes.
During my childhood, 20-25 years ago, my grandparents raised tobacco, so we used this pond to irrigate. That was worst job imaginable right behind "suckering" and "topping". This pond was called "the small pond" and was stocked with brim, bass, and catfish. Today, the pond is used mainly for sustaining livestock (cows). I miss those good 'ol days but with pictures like this one it brings those memories rushing back.
